If you are actively collecting Colorado Unemployment Insurance Benefits and at the same time you are participating in state “approved” short-term classroom training, an employer internship, or an apprenticeship that prepares you for a growing occupation, you may be eligible for:
A waiver of job search requirements
AND
An additional 50% of your weekly benefit amount for up to 20 weeks not to exceed
40% of the maximum benefit amount of your claim
Eligibility
You must be pursuing each of the following:
- Training for an in-demand occupation leading to long-term employment
- A post-secondary degree (BS, BA or AAS) or certificate as long as the training/coursework meets specific requirements for occupational certification, licensing, or registered apprenticeship programs
- Training that makes you more marketable and leads to a greater earning potential
Not Eligible
You are not eligible if you are pursuing any of the following:
- Training programs that do no prepare individuals for specific occupations (PhD, AS, MS, MA)
- GED Preparation or GED testing
- Training that exceeds two years
- Self-paced online training
