The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Career Transition service is accepting interested applicants, on aCareer Transitions Program limited basis, to explore new enrollment opportunities.  Please review the following information below to determine if you may be an eligible and interested candidate.

The federally-funded WIA Career Transition Service supplies a skilled labor force to employers through career development, training, and re-employment services with support from a career counselor. Services are designed to assist eligible job seekers in developing training plans that lead to full-time employment in occupational areas with starting wages of $17.00 – $21.00 per hour or higher. Training plans that support industries outlined in the Governor’s Colorado Blueprint.  A few of these industries include: Information Technology, Health and Wellness, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Bioscience, and Advanced Manufacturing.


Veterans receive Priority of Service for Career Transition Services.

Career Transition Services Include:

  • Individualized career counseling
  • Career and education assessments
  • Access to scholarship funds for occupational training
  • Post-training employment counseling and job search assistance
  • Limited internship opportunities

Who Qualifies for Career Transition Services?

Applicants MUST meet one (1) of the following criteria:

Encounter difficulty in obtaining employment due to:

  • Job Loss or pending job loss in an industry where your occupation is no longer in demand AND eligible for Unemployment Insurance benefits
  • Unemployed Larimer County resident seeking to re-enter the workforce

Service Limitations

Any challenges that might prevent you from being successful in employment and training must be resolved prior to enrollment in the Career Transition service. These may include but are not limited to: homelessness or unstable housing, legal issues, health concerns, lack of reliable transportation, unmet childcare needs, student aid default, etc.  Larimer County Workforce Center staff can refer interested participants to community partners that may be able to assist with solutions to these employment and training barriers prior to Career Transition consideration.
