As a result of this six-hour workshop, you will create a customized career action plan. You will learn: (1) how to identify and apply your existing skills to a new career or industry; (2) how to research careers; (3) how to build a bridge to new career options; and (4) how to create an action plan based on your career objectives.
You will learn how to identify and articulate your skills and gain exposure to online resources for career research. You will also learn strategies for approaching and speaking with professionals in your fields of career interest. Potential self-imposed barriers to career change will be explored as you prioritize your values in career decision-making. You will brainstorm strategies for bridging your current skills and work experience into your desired career field. The final step will be your creation of a customized career action plan to clearly define your resources, needs, and action steps.
Please note: This workshop does not address the important elements of an active job search (resumes, cover letters, etc…). These important job search topics are addressed in other workshops. Customers who have previously attended the Creating Career Options (CCO) workshop are not as likely to benefit from this workshop since much of the content is similar.
