Start with this workshop to learn the fundamentals of developing your resume. You will learn why a resume is important and what the basic components of a resume are.
This workshop is for you if:
- You are applying for an entry-level job.
- You’ve never had a resume before.
- You need a resume immediately.
- You haven’t written a resume in a long time.
The workshop component is for 2 hours and is followed by an optional one-hour lab. During the work session you can develop the content of your resume with guidance from the workshop facilitator.
If you are planning to work on your resume during the work session of the workshop please bring:
- Dates of past employment, names of employers and other information that will be helpful as you start to write your resume.
- A job description of a position for which you are interested in applying.

You will learn about the different resume formats, current resume practices and techniques to better communicate what you have to offer to potential employers.
This workshop is for you if:
- You already have a resume developed.
- You need to rework your resume due to a change in career focus.
- You need to customize your resume for an employer’s specific needs.
NOTE: If you do not have a resume yet, please attend Resume 101 first and develop a basic resume before attending 201.
What to Bring: A job description or research about an employers’ needs in the field you would like to work would be useful.

Attendees who successfully complete this workshop will leave with an electronic draft of their resume. To ensure you will be able to successfully complete this workshop, you must:
- Bring a completed “Basic Chronological Resume Worksheet” to the workshop
- Have an active email account or bring a working flash drive to save your work
