A successful job search involves several stages and LCWC provides you with workshops at every step along the way! Our free workshops help you establish a strong foundation for an effective job search.
Job Fair Preparation
The Job Fair Preparation Workshop is back! In today’s technology-driven job market, job fairs are an amazing opportunity to meet employers in person. This workshop will give you the tools to stand out at job fairs!
By attending this workshop, you will:
- Understand how to learn about employers before the fair
- Develop networking strategies to use while at the fair
- Learn tips for following up with employers after the fair
- Find out how to stand out on paper with a customized resume*
*If you have a resume you will be using at a fair, please bring a copy with you to get a critique from an expert staff member. There will also be information about how to write a resume if you need to learn the basics before writing your own. Computers will be available for use to write resumes or research employers during the workshop.
Career Exploration Workshop
Are you looking for a new career or unsure about what your next career move looks like? The Career Exploration workshop can help! Participants will take assessments to clarify their career interests, skills, and values. Participants will also learn how to connect their assessment results to industries and occupations that match those results.

Many experienced, highly-skilled workers of all ages discover barriers as they look for job opportunities in a tight labor market. Too often, employers may make assumptions or have biases that mistakenly screen out some of the best-qualified candidates.
Through a blend of attitude and action, you can overcome those barriers.
This workshop gives you the tools to:
- Develop your “self-marketing” campaign that tells your story most powerfully.
- Conduct employer and networking research that shows how you’re a great fit for the job you want.
- Find ways to update your skills and keep them sharp while you are job searching.
Do you need to submit a cover letter for a position, but aren’t sure where to begin? This workshop will teach you what to include in a cover letter, what an employer is looking for in a letter, how to structure it, and how to present yourself effectively in writing.
How to Make Your Resume ROAR (Results Oriented And Relevant)
Gain insight as to what employers are looking for in a resume and how to tailor your resume to each opportunity you are pursuing. You will learn about the different resume formats and current resume practices and techniques to better communicate what you have to offer to potential employers.
Interviewing: Be a STAR at Your Next Interview
Preparing for the interview is critical and will allow you to successfully sell yourself to the employer. Included in this workshop are frameworks for answering difficult questions, strategies for answering important unspoken questions, and telling stories that will help the interviewer remember you long after the interview is over.
Job Search Strategies: Networking Conversations
This interactive workshop is designed to inform you about the hidden job market and how to access it through networking. It will focus on how to get the conversation started with a professional introduction!
Job Search Strategies: Researching and Targeting Employers
In this hands-on workshop, you will learn strategies for developing a target employer list, identifying important contacts for your job search and best practices for connecting with them. Basic computer skills needed.
